Successful U.S. Search Awards At Pubcon Las Vegas 2013 To Return Next Year
Pubcon Las Vegas 2013′s inaugural U.S. Search Awards wrapped up successfully as a major highlight of a week filled with social media and online marketing learning and celebration, honoring the bestand brightest industry professionals and businesses at an awards event at Treasure Island Hotel and Casino.
Pubcon — a Forbes “must-attend conference,” is happy to announce that we will continue to be the home of the U.S. Search Awards for at least the next two years, as the event’s association partner, ensuring that Pubcon Las Vegas 2014 and 2015 will again be the scene of the top new media, search, and online marketing awards.
At this year’s U.S. Search Awards, a strong panel of social media and digital marketing industry leaders went through a vigorous judging process to find the nation’s top firms and individuals in more than a dozen categories, expanding on a successful June second annual European Search Awards, which took place in Barcelona.
In association with Pubcon and joint headline sponsors Majestic SEO and Manual Link Building, the U.S. Search Awards presented an excellent program for this country’s first major industry awardsevent, with MC Holly Firfer — Emmy-nominated anchor and correspondent for CNN — leading an unforgettable evening during Pubcon Las Vegas 2013.
“We were delighted to bring our Search Awards brand to the U.S. and it was an obvious choice to team up with Pubcon to deliver the awards ceremony,” Nicky Wake of the U.S. Search Awards said.
“The U.S. Search Awards follow our U.K. and European competitions, both of which are viewed as the key celebrations for the search industry in those territories,” Wake said. “Judging by the fantastic feedback we received in Las Vegas we’ve also now been able to give the U.S. search industry a much needed opportunity to celebrate its own expertise and success, and we’re certain that the awards will become an integral benchmark for the very best in SEO, pay-per-click (PPC) and digital marketing in America,” Wake added.

The U.S. search personality of the year award, recognizing a talented and inspiring practitioner whohas revolutionized the U.S. search industry, was awarded to Pubcon Las Vegas 2013 speaker Marty Weintraub, founder and president at Duluth, Minnesota-based marketing agency aimClear.
“Pubcon was amazing this year,” Weintraub said. “I attended a number of sessions and spent tons of time with smart marketers aimClear follows. Receiving the U.S. Search Award was heartwarming, intense and I feel immense gratitude. It took hundreds of incredibly supportive people over the years to facilitate such recognition. Thanks to our clients, team members, families, vendors, associates and dear friends,” Weintraub added.
The young search professional of the year award, recognizing a talented U.S. search industry professional under 25 years old, was presented to Fil Lourenco, account manager at digital search marketing agency Catalyst Canada.
“It was an incredible honor to take home the Young Search Professional of the Year Award, not to mention the three other awards our team won,” Lourenco said. “I can’t thank my team and clients enough for everything they’ve done to help me get to this point in my career. The team at Catalyst is truly Best-in-Class, and I’m excited about what our future holds,” Lourenco added.
“It was amazing to see our vision of using innovation to create competitive advantage work out the way it did. We’ve really maintained a focus on only engaging in innovative activities that are going todrive measurable results for our clients, rather than the typical approach where some marketers use innovation mostly to make a splash or do something unique and a lot of ROI ends up getting left on the table,” Lourenco noted.
“The night at the U.S. Search Awards and Pubcon Las Vegas 2013 were times our team will never forget. Catalyst Canada also won the award for innovation, for its efforts “in the development or use of a search campaign, software tool, or platform,” and also won the best PPC campaign award, for “a campaign that has achieved outstanding results through PPC advertising.”
The best blog award at the Pubcon Las Vegas 2013 U.S. Search Awards, recognizing an outstanding industry blog serving the U.S. search community, was given to SearchEngineLand.com.
“It’s an honor to receive the very first U.S. Search Award in this category, particularly as foundingeditor Danny Sullivan is coming close to his twentieth year covering search industry news,” Elisabeth Osmeloski, director of audience development at SearchEngineLand.com and MarketingLand.com, said.
“This award is the direct result of a dedicated news team led by editor-in-chief Matt McGee and a network of expert contributors committed to providing the most trusted content in the search marketing industry, ” Osmeloski added.
McGee also praised the Pubcon Las Vegas 2013 U.S. Search Awards event. “We never set out to win awards, but it’s really great to see the team and our industry coverage get recognized like this,” McGee said.
“What makes it even more special is that the judges are many of the people in the search industry that we respect the most. So I’m thrilled to know that they appreciate how hard our staff and contributors work to share search news, analysis, how-to features and more. Great thanks to all of the judges and everyone involved with the U.S. Search Awards,” McGee added.
The Pubcon Las Vegas 2013 U.S. Search Awards presented the Grand Prix award for best U.S. search campaign, platform or software to Catalyst Canada on behalf of HSBC CMB USA (Hongkong andShanghai Banking Corporation) Out Of Home Search and Airports.
The award for best agency, recognizing an “outstanding agency that demonstrates consistently great understanding and use of search or PPC,” went to Elite SEM.
The award for best in-house team, for an “outstanding in-house team that demonstrates consistently great understanding and use of search,” went to Rasmussen College.
The best SEO software award, for “the development of an outstanding software tool that successfully manages and enhances an organisation’s search engine optimization efforts,” went to Linkdex.
The U.S. Search Award for the top PPC management software went to Kenshoo Search, for “development of an outstanding management software package that successfully manages and enhances PPC marketing campaigns.”
The best SEO campaign award, recognizing efforts that have “achieved outstanding results in search engines in natural, free or organic listings,” was presented to Geary LSF for its MegaPath SEOcampaign.
Best integrated campaign at the U.S. Search Awards was presented to Overit for its KnowTheOdds campaign, for “outstanding results through an integrated campaign using a variety of both online and offline activity.”
The best use of PR in a search campaign award went to “SEO-PR – SEO-PR / Get City Dealz / Business Wire Multimedia Press Releases,” for “recognition of outstanding public relations integration into a search campaign.”
The award-winner in the best low-budget campaign category was Advice Interactive Group for “TryMunity – A Social Network for Traumatic Brain Injury Survivors,” presented for “a campaign that has achieved outstanding results on a monthly budget of $500 or less.”
The best local campaign award, for efforts “based around a specific geographical location that have delivered outstanding results or visibility in search engines,” went to “Kenshoo – SIM PartnersVelocity and Kenshoo Local Improve SEM ROI for Sonus Hearing Care Professionals.”
The U.S. Search Award for the best use of search in the third sector went to “Google Grants University: Matt Cardoni of Performics with the Marketing Academy of Univeristy of lowa MBA program help 9 non profits with free traffic and consulting,” for “recognition of a campaign that has successfully enhanced the visibility of a website or Web page in the charity, not-for-profit or social enterprise sector.”
Havas Media and its “Driving Growth in the Competitive Travel Market” efforts earned the firm the award for best use of search in travel and leisure, recognizing ” a campaign that has successfullyenhanced the visibility of a site in the travel or leisure sector.”
Havas Media also won the award for best use of search in finance, for its ” Aggressively Tackling the Competitive Financial Landscape” efforts, recognizing “a campaign that has successfully enhanced the visibility of a site in the finance sector.”
Rounding out the award winners during the U.S. Search Awards at Pubcon Las Vegas 2013 was Mannix Marketing, for its Rover Parts SEO efforts, recognized for “a campaign that has successfully enhanced the visibility of a retail sector site.”
