When Pubcon Las Vegas 2012 takes over the Las Vegas Convention Center this October 15 – 18 for

Pubcon Las Vegas

the year’s biggest social media and optimization conference and expo, there will be a number of visible and behind-the-scenes changes improving our environmental impact, lowering energy consumption and other socially responsible green-living initiatives.

We’re happy to work with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and the Las Vegas Convention Center to help make large conferences such as Pubcon more environmentally friendly, and with an eye towards sustainability a number of steps have already been taken.

Thanks to the green initiatives put in place, Pubcon’s Las Vegas Convention Center venue presently averages a 65 percent recycling rate for all shows, recovering an astounding annual average of:

  • 431 tons of cardboard
  • Pubcon Las Vegas

  • 302 tons of plastic
  • 205 tons of wood
  • 173 tons of mixed paper
  • 132 tons of carpet padding
  • 130 tons of metals

Pubcon supports these efforts to divert such recyclable materials from landfills, as part of the Las Vegas Convention Center’s membership in the Environmental Protection Agency’s WasteWise Program, and hope that you’ll join us and do your part while enjoying your week at Pubcon by using the proper recycling containers located throughout the show venue.

The Las Vegas Convention Center has begun using environmentally friendly cleaning products,

Pubcon Las Vegas

replacing more than 30,000 gallons of traditional chemicals annually, and is working to install more energy-efficient lighting, motion sensors to dim lights in empty rooms, and temperature sensors to save air conditioning and heating energy in empty meeting rooms and exhibit halls.

Working with RePurpose America, the Las Vegas Convention Center has had great success repurposing trade show materials that would otherwise be thrown away, such as turning used hanging banners into conference badge holders during some events. Pubcon is actively pursuing our own direct association with RePurpose America to help make Pubcon Las Vegas 2012 our greenest show ever.

Through programs such as these, along with our donation initiatives benefiting the American Cancer Society and the Lance Armstrong Foundation’s Livestrong program, Pubcon is working to help make the world a better and greener place.

Register for Pubcon Las Vegas 2012 today and join the world’s top social media and search marketing experts for a week of learning and networking fun in the entertainment capital of the world.

Thanks,
