Derrick Wheeler is the Senior Search Engine Optimization Architect for the Central Marketing Group at Microsoft. He is responsible for developing solutions that enable marketers and site managers to apply SEO best practices to their websites using best-in-class tools and a standardized approach.

A frequent speaker at popular search engine marketing conferences, Wheeler developed a deep understanding of how to be successful with search engines from over a decade of experience in the internet marketing industry.

Prior to joining Microsoft, he worked at Acxiom Digital (formerly Digital Impact and Marketleap) as the Director of Search Engine Marketing. Here, he trained and led a team responsible for organic search optimization, paid search advertising, and XML data feed production for a diverse list of clients.

Before working at Acxiom Corporation, Wheeler was the Vice President of Search Engine Optimization at Intrapromote, LLC and was responsible for all aspects of search engine optimization for the company's clients. He also worked at Outrider North America (formerly Multimedia Marketing Group) as the Director of Online Promotions, where he created and managed a department responsible for the production of all online promotion services.

Wheeler graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. When he's not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, listening to music, and trying to stay fit.
