Cindy Turrietta founded her first internet marketing business, CindyT.Consulting DBA Affordable Search Engine Ranking in 2002 after she realized that marketing on the Internet catered to the creative as well the geek in her.

Realizing that an understanding of how web pages are built would be necessary in order to optimize them for search engine ranking, she found some great FREE multimedia classes offered by the San Diego Center for Education and Technology North City/Career Center, and began to learn web development. She also found a comprehensive online course from Robin Nobles that enabled her to become a “Certified Search Engine Marketing Strategist” and that is where she really learned how to do “white hat” SEO.

Upon attending her first Search Engine Strategies Conference, Cindy discovered that San Diego was a mecca for growing Internet marketing companies, especially analytics. Remember “Urchin”? How about Engine Ready?

Summer 2004, Cindy became interested in developing an Internet based talk show on the subject of Internet marketing. Digging deep into her contacts, Cindy was able to attract as guests such industry leaders such as Matt Cutts, John Alexander, Dr. Amanda Watlington, Bryon Eisenberg, Rand Fishkin yes, even Brett Tabke!

At the end of 2005, Cindy accepted a Senior SEM Analyst position with the prestigious SEO firm of Bruce Clay, Inc. managing the firms PPC client accounts before moving on to manage PPC and SEO for an established online ecommerce site.

These days Cindy's consultancy works a full portfolio of her own clients as well as those of the Findability Group. She also teaches the SCORE San Diego workshop on SEO and has also been invited to speak at Webmaster World's PubCon conference for the last few years drawing on her experiences as a podcaster. Representing SEMPO, she also spoke on the benefits of search marketing at Microsoft's Worldwide Partner's Conference in 2008 & 2009.
